I'm writing this from Tokyo...
I'm writing this from Tokyo, where I arrived a week ago to speak at the Design Matters conference. For a while, I've been looking for the best way to build a community and develop a deeper connection with my audience, without constantly adapting to algorithm changes.
Who I am
For those familiar with my work, feel free to skip this paragraph. If you're new here, hello! I'm Tiziana Alocci, a London-based artist, public speaker, and lecturer. I explore the intersection of art, technology, and data, focusing on visualising and sonifying various unseen aspects of our environment. This includes sleep data, environmental sounds, language generation, people's movements, criminal tattoos, music production, and perfume perception.
On building communities
I'll use Substack for sharing newsletters, and I've launched a Patreon page to support my wonderful community. I'd love for you to join me. Jack Conte, the CEO of Patreon, spoke about "The Death of the Follower" at SXSW 2024. He highlighted a key shift from focusing on follower counts to fostering deeper, more meaningful engagement. He emphasised that value now comes from smaller, more invested communities.
By joining me on Patreon, you'll gain exclusive access to:
1-1 Consultation Sessions: We can discuss or review a project, brainstorm ideas, or review your portfolio.
Blog Early Access and Q&A Sessions: You'll see how my art evolves, from initial sketches to final pieces.
Priority Sales: You'll get early access to purchase my limited edition prints before their public release.
If you're interested in joining my creative journey, I'd be incredibly grateful. You can find the link to my Patreon page here: https://patreon.com/TizianaAlocci
My Substack will remain free, but if you'd like to support me there too, you're a legend!
With Love,
Tiziana
